My name is Brooke Montavon, and I've been photographing DeKalb, Illinois and the surrounding northern Illinois area for over 15 years. Photography has always been my way of telling stories, and I love capturing the moments, emotions, and connections that make each person and experience unique.

I specialize in photographing theatre productions, portraits, headshots, families, and events, along with the occasional wedding. Whether I'm documenting a live performance or a family session at sunset, my goal is always the same: to create images that feel genuine and tell a story.

As a performer myself, I have a deep appreciation for theatre, dance, and music. Some of my favorite moments to photograph happen on stage; capturing the energy of a live performance, the artistry of movement and lighting, and the emotion that performers bring to their craft. Being involved in the performing arts gives me a unique perspective behind the camera and helps me anticipate the moments that matter most.

That same approach carries over into my portrait and family photography. I'm drawn to authentic interactions, natural expressions, and the connections between people. Rather than focusing on perfectly posed moments, I love creating images that feel natural, candid, and true to who you are.
